DO RE WE NEWS

Grand Final Concert at Zaprice Castle

Saturday, June 8th, was a very special day for DoReWe students, especially their relatives and friends. In the beautiful and historically rich Zaprice Castle in Kamnik, a true musical marathon took place to conclude the school year.

This final concert, where our aspiring musicians showcased what they had learned throughout the school year, featured around 70 musical performances and lasted from morning till evening. The first concert began at 10:30 AM, followed by the next one at 3:00 PM, and the last one at 6:00 PM. On this day of celebrating a successful musical school year, over 150 students of our mentors, namely Ana Maria, Nika, Andreja, Nevena, Lara, Boris and Matjaž, performed through playing and singing.

After each concert, there was also a reception and socializing event where parents, students, and mentors connected, celebrated the wonderful concert, and the progress made throughout the school year. One of the students had an extra special surprise, as it was also his birthday. After his performance, we surprised him with a cake and sang "Happy Birthday" together. It was definitely an unforgettable day full of surprises and positive energy.

Thank you to all the performers who diligently practiced throughout the year and brought us a wonderful start to the summer with the concert, and to everyone who attended and joined us in celebration. We look forward to seeing you again in the next school year and continuing our musical journey.

Mentors in action - Opera "Gianni Schicchi" and Musical "Fear"

In June, we watched two performances by our mentors. The first was the opera "Gianni Schicchi," in which our mentors Boris and Nevena performed. We admired them in the beautiful building of the Opera House in Ljubljana, where we were joined by our aspiring soloist Nace, who is a massive fan of opera.

At the Festival Hall, we watched the youth musical "Fear," which was directed and led by our mentor Sara.

Congratulations to all the mentors on their achievements and progress!

DoReWe successes and milestones in the school year of 2023/24

As the school year comes to an end, we like to reflect on what we have achieved over the past year, our successes and milestones, and our goals for the coming year.

As a music school that began its journey in 2022, we can proudly say that the 2023/2024 school year has left a significant impression on us. The hard work we put in has paid off time and again, and we can now boast that we concluded the year with wonderful mentors and nearly 180 enrolled students. These students, from the youngest to the oldest, as part of the DoReWe family, have created beautiful concerts, musical events, and workshops, and have written a musical story with us.

"We come to you"  is one of our main slogans and approaches, as we want to spread musical knowledge in a way that is most convenient for our students and their parents. This year, in addition to home tutoring, we expanded our teaching to 15 different locations in schools and other institutions. Notably, we added new spaces in the center of Kamnik, with an office and two classrooms, which DoReWe opened in March.

Companies  are no exception, as we collaborate with them to create musical events, team-building activities, and lessons. Last year, we worked with some of the most interesting companies, including Celtra, where we enabled almost 20 employees to learn piano during working hours. This increased their motivation, strengthened team spirit, and built close friendships in the workplace.

This year was also filled with interesting events  and workshops, wonderful performances, and even more beautiful concerts. From a music-creative workshop and musical at Supernova, a Christmas concert, a children's bazaar, and various festivals, we are most proud of the mini-musical "Lion in the Heart" at the book fair, where we met the author of the eponymous literary hit with the performers. We must not forget our Family Day. This concert, where music and family intertwined on stage, was a truly unique experience that we look forward to repeating.

One of our main successes is our energetic team, which complements each other beautifully. This year, we were joined by Sara, who is part of the singing program and co-creates musicals, Valerie, who delights with her singing and playing, and Janez, who brought a percussion program to DoReWe with his positive rhythms. Ami, Andrea, and of course the always amazing Nika, who led over 50 students to a successful end of the school year, mostly in group piano lessons with singing, were also with us.

With a team where everyone brings their own talent, we have the opportunity to create and achieve goals such as the first DoReWe original musical, "Ella's Impossible Dream", which the musical team is already performing at summer camps.

For all these successes and milestones that we can be proud of, the most credit goes to our students and parents who believe in us. Thank you all for your trust, the time we spent together, and the opportunity to share our love of music with you.

This year was especially brightened by our youngest members, Tinkara and Jonatan, who enlivened the team. Congratulations to the mothers, Katarina and Kristina, on their great achievement, which is incomparable to all our other successes.

FANTASTIC TIP

#20 Musical as a journey of life

Musicals, with their complex structure and diverse elements, yet inherently charming nature, hold great potential for teaching multiple skills simultaneously. Children who perform in musicals learn to express themselves through three different forms: music, dance and acting.

By learning songs, children develop their musical ear, explore different genres, and learn to express and narrate through song. In dance, children enhance their motor skills, physical coordination, balance, and rhythm. Through acting, they get acquainted with various life situations, broaden their horizons, and build self-confidence. Preparing a musical also requires a large cast and dedicated teamwork. This gives the child an experience of the importance of team spirit and working together to achieve a goal. Collaboration in a musical production teaches children good communication, negotiation, and compromise with others.

Participation in musicals thus positively influences a wide range of a child's development. We recommend involving your child in such workshops and camps, like those offered by DoReWe. From communication skills and expression on different levels to the positive impact on self-image and socialization, these skills will benefit children later in life, regardless of the profession they choose. As the famous Shakespearean slogan goes, "All the world’s a stage"!

SONATA FROM THE STREET

Igor, the father of two DoReWe students, shared his thoughts on the final concert:

"As a parent of two children who attend piano lessons, I am extremely grateful to the DoReWe music school for their dedication and professionalism. The success and progress of my children are largely thanks to our music teacher, whose care and knowledge inspire them.

The final concert at Zaprice was a true celebration of music, where all students, from beginners to advanced, had the opportunity to shine. Zaprice Castle was the perfect setting for this event, providing an environment where each performer felt special and appreciated."

LALA QUIZ

How many students does the biggest music school hold?

A) 900

B) 1400

C) 2000

Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, founded in 1921, is the largest conservatory for music in the world. Even though it's not prestigiously known as for example Julliard or Berklee, it's known by accepting most students per school year.
