DO RE WE NEWS
School of Musical for adults
In October, we enthusiastically launched an entirely new program, the School of Musical for Adults, which has been creating an exceptionally creative and connecting atmosphere from the very first meetings. The program is designed for everyone drawn to the world of musical theatre and wishing to develop acting, singing, and dance skills—regardless of prior experience.
The School of Musical takes place at two locations:
Ljubljana: Tuesdays, 19:30–21:00, at the Minimundo Dance School
Radomlje: Wednesdays, 20:00–21:30, at the Kulturni Dom Radomlje
Participants are introduced to various acting, singing, and movement techniques. Through practical exercises, they gradually build stage presence and performance confidence. We are also proud to have already begun the process of creating our very own musical production, in which all participants are actively involved—from generating ideas to writing the script, music, and scenes.
The atmosphere is full of energy, laughter, and creative exploration, so we warmly invite everyone who feels inspired by the world of musical theatre to join us and step on stage with us.
"NEW BEGINNINGS" - Anthem of the Kranj Hospital for Gynecology and Obstetrics
In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Kranj Hospital for Gynecology and Obstetrics, we proudly created a special jubilee anthem dedicated to their long-standing mission of caring for women, mothers, and families. The song premiered at the official ceremony and is meant for both the staff and everyone who has experienced important life moments in this institution.
In writing the anthem, we aimed to capture the essence of their mission—care for women’s health, respect for family, and the warmth and dedication of the employees who create a safe haven for new beginnings every day. The lyrics therefore reflect fragments that symbolize these values, such as “Life beneath the heart,” “Light of the future,” and “A house of strength and warmth.” We also highlighted the team spirit that defines the hospital, expressed in thoughts like “Everyone gives their all.”
The anthem took on special significance at the ceremony because three hospital employees— Nataša, Eva, and Boža —joined us in the performance. With their voices, they added authenticity and symbolically connected art with their daily dedication to their work.
We thank everyone involved for this unforgettable experience and extend our sincere congratulations to Kranj Hospital on their remarkable anniversary.
FANTASTIC TIP
#34 Contemporary youth opera Fox Moon
We recommend seeing the performance Fox Moon, which will once again be available at Cankarjev Dom on January 18, 2026. Fox Moon is a contemporary youth opera based on the book by Maša Ogrizek, with music by Matej Bonin. The story unfolds in an enchanted forest, where the characters face various challenges—such as abandonment, jealousy, complicated family relationships—and make important life decisions that guide them toward independence.
The opera, in which our student Ana Gajšek performs as a soloist, together with the energetic youth choir of the Glasbena Matica and professional musicians, creates a unique musical and theatrical experience.
SONATA FROM THE STREET
Impressions from a participant of the School of Musical for adults:
"I have always loved music; it accompanies me at every step of my life. I enjoy singing in the car, at the piano, while working, at karaoke, at parties—anywhere and anytime possible.
This year, after 15 years, I said goodbye to choral singing, and a gap opened in my heart. As a child, I adored musicals and dreamed of living in a world where all emotions merge into music. But being part of a musical myself—at my age, that’s just a dream, right? Surely, it’s too late for that.
That’s what I thought, until I stumbled upon the Do Re We music school and enrolled in the Adult Musical School. Even though our creations are still in their early stages, I feel that this will become one of the most beautiful experiences of my life.
The professional guidance, in a relaxed and friendly environment where we all contribute to creating our musical, allows us to develop our creativity with our own ideas, sing and dance freely without fear, and live our childhood dreams.
I believe that this year, all of us in the Musical School will discover a new part of ourselves and sing and dance our dreams. We will be delighted if other music and theatre lovers join us to create a new story together."
