DO RE WE NEWS
Musical receives a silver award at the regional Kekec Festival
On Wednesday, April 9, the musical Ella’s Impossible Dream lit up the stage of the Kamnik Cultural Centre in all its theatrical splendor, as students from DoReWe School of Musical, dancers from Ana Ballet School, and members of the Šinšin Dance Club performed at the regional-level Kekec Festival of Children’s Theatre Groups.
Even before the performance began, there was a special energy in the air — a feeling of anticipation, pride, and support. Once again, Kamnik showed that it knows how to stand by its young creators and offer them a heartfelt audience. The hall was filled with students from Tom Brejc Primary School and Fran Albreht Primary School, whose enthusiastic presence created a truly positive atmosphere. Their loud cheers and thunderous applause were the final touch to an already memorable event.
The young actors and dancers managed to bring the story to life on stage with heartfelt dedication that moved both young and adult audience members alike. Their energy, musical talent, and stage presence proved that with hard work and a love for the arts, even seemingly impossible dreams can come true.
Following the conclusion of the performance, the event was honored by the presence of Mr. Tone Ftičar, the regional representative of JSKD, who addressed the audience with warm and encouraging words. He offered high praise to the performers and their mentors, and, as a token of recognition, presented the DoReWe group with a silver award, symbolizing artistic excellence and the dedication of young creators.
On this occasion, we extend our sincere congratulations to the entire team of the Kamnik Regional Branch of JSKD for the outstanding execution of the two-day event, which featured no less than 11 theatrical performances. The participants of the Kekec Festival — who came to Kamnik from Kranj, Škofja Loka, Tržič, Kranjska Gora, Kroška Bela, Kropa, Mojstrana, and other places across Gorenjska — were clearly impressed by the event’s organization and the vibrant atmosphere in Kamnik. Once again, we have proven that Kamnik is a town of culture.

Musical escape room
In April, a very special birthday party took place at the premises of DoReWe Music School, one that the participants will remember for a long time. This time, the birthday girl and her friends embarked on a unique musical adventure in the form of an escape room titled The Lost Melody.
Upon entering the cleverly transformed music classroom, the children found themselves in a world of puzzles, hidden clues, and mysterious musical challenges. To uncover the lost melody, they had to use their knowledge of notes, rhythm, and instruments, while also demonstrating teamwork and perseverance. They successfully escaped the room! The tasks were designed to spark curiosity, encourage logical thinking, and nurture a love for music — all wrapped in plenty of fun and laughter.

FANTASTIC TIP
#29 Listening to and singing songs in a foreign language
Have you ever found yourself effortlessly singing the chorus of an English song, even though you can barely form a simple sentence in the language? Music has an incredible power when it comes to language learning — a fact supported by numerous studies.

Music Enhances Language Learning
Studies from the University of Edinburgh and the University of Helsinki have shown that people who learned a foreign language through singing remembered words more effectively and pronounced them more accurately than those who learned through traditional methods. Rhythm, melody, and repetition help store information more easily in the brain.
Listening to songs in a foreign language strengthens listening comprehension, expands vocabulary, and fosters positive feelings toward the language.
Singing Offers More Than Just Words
Beyond language development, singing boosts confidence, sharpens musical hearing, enhances rhythm awareness, and fosters cultural understanding. Songs connect us with the culture behind the language and broaden our perspective on the world.
Summer School of Musical: Learning English Through Music and Play
At DoReWe, we put these benefits into practice — during our Summer School of Musical, children practice English in a fun and creative way through singing, movement, and play. Along the way, they develop both language and acting skills, and most importantly, confidence in speaking and expressing themselves in a foreign language.
If you want your child to learn English without stress — with plenty of fun and creativity — music is the perfect place to start.
