DO RE WE NEWS
Fourth DoReWe Family day concert
On Saturday, March 21st, Kamnik Cultural center hosted the fourth annual DoReWe Family Day concert, which year after year proves how powerfully music can bring generations together. The stage was taken by students of the DoReWe music school alongside their family members, who created a diverse and heartfelt program through various musical ensembles, instrument combinations, and genres.
The audience enjoyed numerous captivating performances — from parents and children to friends and mentors — whose energy and courage delighted everyone in attendance. A special highlight of the evening was the debut of the DoReWe Band, which earned thunderous applause with its fresh sound and strong stage presence.
The School of Musical also left its mark, delivering a true theatrical-musical experience and offering a glimpse ahead of its upcoming premiere. As a grand finale, all DoReWe students joined together in a collective choir, uniting the evening into one symbolic whole with the songs Najlepše pesmi and the DoReWe Anthem.
Family Day thus remains one of the school's warmest and most unifying events — a place where music transcends the boundaries of the classroom and becomes a bridge between generations.
Lucky Kiddo premiere of the Musical Colourland
On Tuesday, March 10th, Kamnik Cultural center hosted a preview performance of the musical Colourland, held especially for students of Stranje Primary School. The young audience followed the vibrant story — full of music, dance, and emotion — with great enthusiasm, rewarding the performers with heartfelt applause. Their energy and response gave the creative team an extra boost of motivation ahead of the official premiere.
A special highlight followed on Mother's Day, Wednesday, March 25th, when the grand Lucky Kiddo premiere finally arrived. The hall was filled to the very last seat, and the audience revelled in a magical production that wove together story, music, and stage performance into an unforgettable experience. The event was particularly moving, as many families were able to spend this year's celebration of mothers together with us, enjoying the show.
Special thanks also go to the Ana Ballet School, led by Ana Trojnar, and its ballerinas, whose expressiveness enriched the on-stage action. The premiere was truly unique thanks to the result of several wonderful collaborations — not only with the Ana Ballet School, but also with the children's clothing brand Lucky Kiddo, whose support and presence added the perfect finishing touch to the entire event. Colourland thus proved — not only within its story — that people from different worlds can come together and collaborate, and all of us involved in the premiere demonstrated exactly that.
FANTASTIC TIP
#39 Singing competitions
Participating in singing competitions and festivals is an invaluable experience for young singers. It is not just about the result, but about the journey: preparing for a performance fosters discipline, perseverance, and dedicated work on one's own voice. Performing in front of an audience helps overcome stage fright and builds confidence and stage presence. Singers also gain valuable feedback from a professional jury, meet peers who share similar interests, and form new friendships and musical connections.
Such events are also an excellent opportunity for personal growth — every performance is a step forward, regardless of the final ranking. An important part of this experience are the awards and recognitions, which serve as a meaningful acknowledgement of the effort invested and as encouragement for the singer's continued development.

This year, a truly special opportunity awaits: The cultural society Naš oder, in collaboration with the Municipality of Kamnik, is organising the first Children's and Youth Singing Festival
SONG OF THE FUTURE in Kamnik. Open to singers aged 6 to 18, the festival also promises a variety of awards for the most promising performers. The semi-final and final selections will take place on the 9th and 10th of May at the Dom kulture Kamnik.
We invite all young singers who are eager for new challenges, experiences, and an unforgettable time on stage to take part. Perhaps this is your very first step on a greater musical journey!
SONATA FROM THE STREET
A teacher from Stranje Primary School shares her thoughts after attending the preview performance of the musical Colourland:
"The musical pleasantly surprised me. In an wonderfully accessible, warm, and vibrant way, the production opens up the important topic of embracing diversity. Through music, dance, and acting, you conveyed a very clear message to the children — how precious it is that the world is made up of different 'colours': personalities, cultures, and perspectives.
Today, my students also drew in their notebooks which colours they see in themselves. We ended up with a wonderful collection of little drawings.
Thank you, and warm regards."
