DO RE WE NEWS
Audition for the 1st Children’s and Youth Singing Festival Song of the Future took place at DoReWe
On Sunday, April 19, 2026, auditions for the 1st Children’s and Youth Festival Song of the Future Kamnik 2026 were held at the premises of the DoReWe Music Center. The festival is organized by the Cultural Association Naš oder in cooperation with the DoReWe Music Center, while the project itself was co-financed by the Municipality of Kamnik.

The festival received an exceptional response, with as many as 88 children and young people between the ages of 6 and 18 applying from various parts of Slovenia. Young singers were able to apply either by submitting a video recording or by showcasing their talent at a live audition. The applicants impressed with a wide variety of musical interpretations – ranging from pop, rock, opera, and jazz to folk-pop music and other musical genres. Even selecting the semifinalists proved to be an extremely demanding task for the jury, as many outstanding young talents participated in the auditions.
The decision on who would advance to the semifinals was made by a five-member professional jury composed of representatives from various music and singing schools: the DoReWe Music Center, Akademija za glas, Arsem, B.A.S.E., and Egolecta.
Even at the audition stage, the Song of the Future festival has already demonstrated that Slovenia is home to many talented young musicians who need opportunities to perform, create, and further develop their musical careers.
Supporters of the SONG OF THE FUTURE Singing Festival
The festival has already received support from several sponsors. One of the main sponsors is the Slovenian clothing brand Lucky Kiddo, a strong supporter of children’s creativity whose values perfectly align with the vision of the festival.

FANTASTIC TIP
#40 Tips for a good performance
The Song of the Future Kamnik 2026 festival offers young singers a stage where they can showcase their talent, courage, and love for music. However, a great performance is not only about having a beautiful voice – confidence, connection with the audience, and sincerity on stage are equally important. That is why the festival jury members, academics, and music professionals have prepared some valuable advice for all performers.

Alenka Resman Langus, a mentor at the Akademija za glas, advises singers to use their imagination even while practicing at home: “When you practice at home, imagine yourself standing on stage and performing in front of an audience. Feel the space, the energy, and the confidence within yourself. That way, on the day of the performance, you will feel calmer – as if you are not performing for the first time, but simply showing once again what you already know.” She also adds an important thought: “And don’t forget – you are already amazing simply because you dare to step onto the stage!”

Ursula Luthar, a mentor at the B.A.S.E. music school, emphasizes the importance of the lyrics and the message of the song:
“Focus on the lyrics and the message of the song. This will help you step outside of yourself and overcome your stage fright, while also creating a stronger connection with the audience.”

Matej Grm, founder of the knowledge agency Egolecta, also believes that energy on stage is key: "A smile, a little flirting with the audience, a touch of confidence – and above all, enjoying every single note. Let every student on stage feel as if they are filling a sold-out stadium."

A simple yet powerful piece of advice was given by Boris Papak, mentor at the DoReWe music centre: "Be who you are, and stick with it."

Teja Saksida, a mentor at the Arsem music school, points out that audiences feel sincerity most of all: "On stage, be as true to yourself as possible and show your joy of singing. In addition, try to convey the message of the song to the audience – the more you succeed in this, the closer you are to a truly outstanding performance."
All the mentors agree on one thing: the most beautiful performances are not perfect because of flawlessness, but because of authenticity, courage, and a love of music. When you step onto the stage and sing from the heart, you have already done something extraordinary.
SONATA FROM THE STREET
The judges of the Song of the Future Kamnik 2026 festival shared their favourite childhood songs with us:
"My favourite song from childhood was Enkrat je bil en škrat." – Alenka R. L.
"My favourite song from childhood is Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) by Green Day." – Ursula L.
"My favourite song from childhood is the track Gate na glavo by Zoran Predin. Apparently, as a child I played it on repeat to such an extent that the adults wished they had earplugs. Today… well, let's just say I prefer to leave it in fond memories. 😄 These days, my playlist leans more towards analogue waters – vinyl records on a home sound system from the 70s and 80s, no synthesizers, no artificial additives. Pure, old soul of sound." – Matej G.
"My favourite song from childhood is Vrapčići – Učitelju smanji gas, which I also performed at an elementary school event. Now, having become a dad, the entire album of children's songs by Marija Šerifović has been constantly playing in my head lately." – Boris P.
"My favourite songs changed over time, of course – there were really so many of them. The ones that have stayed with me most are: November Rain, Sealed with a Kiss, The Shoop Shoop Song, If I Could Turn Back Time, Wish You Were Here, Samo milijon nas še živi, Lemon Tree, Diamonds and Rust, Mercedes Benz, Blowin' in the Wind, Wind of Change, Angel (Kelly Family), Ironic (Alanis Morissette), Stairway to Heaven... And the song I currently listen to most in the car is Bohemian Rhapsody." – Teja S.
